This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated systems and equipment within Cambria’s raw material quartz processing facility. The incumbent works with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human‑machine interfaces (HMIs), sensors, and other automation components to ensure efficient and reliable operations.
Key duties include configuring and programming PLCs and HMIs, maintaining conveyors, mills, and related processing equipment, and calibrating sensors and actuators. The engineer also develops and updates automation documentation such as electrical schematics, control diagrams, and operating procedures, while collaborating with maintenance and operations teams to optimize system performance.
Preventive maintenance, identification of reliability improvements, and compliance with safety regulations are integral parts of the position. The employee assists in new automation projects, provides technical support and training to operations personnel, and works closely with maintenance technicians to keep equipment available.
Candidates must hold an associate’s degree in electrical engineering, automation technology, or a related field, or possess equivalent experience, along with at least two years of industrial automation experience, preferably in mining, processing, or manufacturing. Required skills include strong knowledge of PLCs and HMIs, ability to read electrical schematics, proficiency in troubleshooting automated systems, and solid problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork abilities.
The role demands physical stamina: lifting up to 60 lb, standing for up to 12‑hour shifts, working at varying heights, and performing tasks in outdoor conditions. Required personal protective equipment includes steel‑toed boots, hearing protection, safety glasses, cut‑proof gloves, respirator, high‑visibility vest, and hard hat.
Cambria offers a starting salary range of $27.00 to $36.75 per hour, determined by role, level, location, experience, and education.
