The Contracts Manager will join the Service Commercial Team to drive commercial growth of Clarke Energy’s aftermarket service business. The role owns the creation, negotiation and management of service contracts, pricing, and risk mitigation, acting as the primary commercial liaison between customers, internal teams and the wider organisation.
A strong market understanding is required to identify emerging opportunities, analyse competitor activity and ensure that operational constraints are reflected in contract terms, while complying with the company’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies.
- Grow aftermarket service revenue by creating and negotiating risk‑managed short‑ and long‑term contracts
- Manage new and existing maintenance, parts supply and transactional service opportunities
- Lead commercial discussions and serve as primary contract point of contact with customers
- Review, negotiate and finalize contract terms with Commercial Manager and Legal, mitigating identified risks
- Price new maintenance contracts, defining duration, commercial terms and conditions
- Provide clear commercial guidance to internal stakeholders and external customers
- Identify, assess and report contractual risks such as performance guarantees, liquidated damages and insurance requirements
- Analyse market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities to inform contract strategy
- Collaborate with operational teams to ensure service delivery constraints are reflected in agreements
- Ensure compliance with Clarke Energy’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies

The successful candidate will hold a degree or HND/HNC in a relevant field, have proven experience negotiating commercial contracts in an engineering or technical services setting, and demonstrate strong commercial acumen, analytical ability and advanced IT skills.
Key personal attributes include professionalism, integrity, customer focus, excellent negotiation and influencing skills, organisational discipline, effective communication, resilience under pressure and a continuous‑improvement mindset.
Desirable experience includes familiarity with engineering service operations, aftermarket environments and lifecycle management of service‑based contracts.
- Proven experience negotiating commercial contracts in engineering or technical services
- Strong commercial acumen for selling engineering or service solutions
- Solid understanding of legal terms and commercial implications
- Degree or HND/HNC in Business, Engineering, Finance, Mathematics or related discipline
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical skills to interpret operational and financial data
- Customer‑focused with excellent negotiation and influencing abilities
- Highly organised and able to manage varied workload
