The Rigger must possess knowledge of complex and heavy rigging, crane boom and cable changes, electrical safety, ladder and scaffold safety, lifting machinery, wire‑rope basics, basic rigging, fire prevention, sizing of chokers, load charts, cutting torches, and blueprint reading. Certification from a nationally recognized organization such as NCCER is highly recommended. The rigger is expected to understand all safety hazards and safely operate work‑related tools and equipment in plant operations or construction job‑site settings.
The position requires physical stamina, coordination, and the ability to work from sedentary to heavy tasks while climbing, balancing, and navigating uneven or adverse terrain. The rigger must communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers, comprehend written directions, and perform basic calculations. Attention to detail, sound decision‑making, and the capacity to concentrate amid distractions are essential.
