Ensure personal utilization and direct report consistently meets established goals.
As applicable, manage direct reports, including but not limited to training & mentoring, reviewing reports, managing schedules, regular 1:1’s, and developing and leading 90-day and annual reviews.
Conduct peer reviews of findings for direct reports and peers.
Focus on critical aspects of structural engineering, building enclosures, commercial roof systems, waterproofing systems, and exterior facades, including masonry.
Act as a trusted advisor to clients and prospective clients; own and develop the client relationship.
Prepare reports and presentations of assessment findings that document the existing conditions and extend defects to provide recommended repairs for damage, defect, or existing condition.
Assume full managerial responsibility for all aspects of the project: scope, schedule, design, budget, quality, staff, execution, and budgets
Review background documentation to determine original construction detailing and identify areas of risk (i.e., water penetration, air leakage, and/or condensation, etc.)
Conduct on-site investigations and field reviews of existing buildings.
Manage time, budgets, resources, and schedules effectively using the department tools.
Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance with the project intent, performance with respect to the various building science and engineering principles, and for any scheduling of work issues.
Prepare site visit reports.
Perform project tracking and quality control, including regular project status reviews of actual vs. planned, facilitating project status and review meetings internally and with the client, take appropriate actions to address variance to project plan, follow standardized procedures for change orders and all Lerch Bates processes/procedures.
Explore and capitalize on opportunities to enhance service with or upsell existing clients and projects.
Coordinate with internal designers, drafters, engineers, and consultants for the preparation of construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
Participate in and/or lead meetings that verify in size and complexity with owners, developers, architects, adjustors, and/or other consultants.
Conduct on-site quality assurance observations to review construction for conformance to contract documents, industry standards, manufacturer requirements, and/or best practices.
Conduct drawing, detail, and specification reviews.
Proactively keep clients and stakeholders informed of project status and changes.
Provide oversight of technicians and specialists performing field reviews by providing technical/directional advice and reviewing site visit reports for consistency and technical accuracy.

A minimum 5 years of experience in the architecture, engineering, and/or construction industry.
An ability to work independently, handle multiple deadlines, and accommodate shifting priorities.
A strong understanding of residential, commercial, or institutional building design and construction.
A demonstrated commitment to quality, organization, meticulous attention to detail, and consistency in work product.
Previous experience working for a contractor for structural, building envelope, commercial roofing, and/or waterproofing projects.
An ability to lead and contribute to the team in a collaborative, interactive environment.
