A U.S. freight rail services provider operating coast‑to‑coast repair, short‑line, storage, cleaning, transloading and track maintenance.
The role involves interpreting railcar switch lists, managing yard track classifications, and coordinating workers for train makeup, break‑up, and yard switching schedules. The employee must follow train orders, signals, and industry regulations, conduct pre‑movement inspections with blue‑flag protection, maintain derailer safety, and perform periodic car inspections. Additional duties include directing coupling and uncoupling operations, setting warning signals, completing maintenance checklists, and participating in root‑cause investigations and corrective actions.
The ideal candidate may have prior railcar switching experience, though extensive heavy‑machine operation in an industrial setting is also acceptable. Required abilities include sustained focus on surroundings, clear communication, prolonged standing or sitting outdoors and in confined spaces, working at elevated heights, and reading schematics, regulations, and work instructions.
