The Operations Instructor is responsible for the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of operator training. Training is delivered in various settings with other instructors, following accredited processes and applicable codes and regulations. The instructor also evaluates trainee performance on‑the‑job and in simulators, and implements the SAT process for Operations training programs.
Key duties include analyzing and designing training for all operations programs, delivering classroom and simulator instruction for non‑licensed and licensed operators, shift managers and technical advisors, and developing and administering examinations. The instructor pursues and maintains qualifications such as general instructor, simulator booth operator, SRO certification, and supports self‑assessments, contract employee in‑processing, and plant outage transitions. Participation in the site Emergency Response Organization is also required.
Candidates should hold an RO or SRO license or certification (preferred) and have expertise in power plant operations, with technical background in electrical, mechanical, health physics or chemistry considered beneficial. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills are required, along with organizational and administrative abilities to maintain accredited training. Applicants must be self‑motivated, able to work independently and in teams, possess intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, and meet all Company and NRC security requirements.
The Senior Operations Instructor leads, develops and conducts classroom and simulator training for all operator programs, creates examinations, and analyzes operational experience to shape curricula. They continuously pursue qualifications, maintain SRO certification, and support self‑assessments, emergency response, and plant outage staffing. Required qualifications include a diploma or GED plus associate’s degree (or equivalent experience), a history of RO or SRO license, at least five years of plant‑related experience with three years in training, and NANT instructor qualification within one year.
