The Counter Sales Associate - A adds value to our customers and co-workers by providing fast, friendly and knowledgeable service at the counter, fostering customer and vendor relationships, and supporting branch warehouse and logistics to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Build and maintain strong customer and vendor relationships to increase sales and build customer loyalty
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following company policies and safety procedures
- Proactively address or report issues, clean as you go, and ensure positive customer service for co-workers and customers
- Maintain current and relevant product knowledge to assess customer needs and offer assistance and solutions in a professional manner
- Assist with packing orders and restocking shelves as required
- Plan and optimize local delivery routes to maximize efficiency and meet delivery deadlines.
- Provide fast and friendly service at the counter, over the phone, and by email
- Manage, process customer orders quickly and accurately, handle returns and the required paperwork, and source items that are not in stock
- Meet daily productivity expectations by accurately picking and verifying products according to order specifications and using handheld scanners.

- Valid Drivers License may be required based on location
- Minimum 2 years of customer service/ counter sales experience
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- This position is required to work weekends on a rotational basis
- This position involves standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods
- Ability to consistently model Next’s core values and character expectations listed above
- Good English verbal communication and customer service skills
- This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance
- A positive attitude with the ability to work well in a team environment
- Good computer skills with the ability to effectively email, read and use reports in Microsoft Office and database software
- High School or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Basic math functions
- Good English reading and writing skills
- Knowledge of hydronics an asset
- Strong knowledge of plumbing
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment (reach truck, forklift, etc.) safely and efficiently and ability to obtain MHE license within 3 months of hiring (based on location)
- Previous plumbing, wholesale experience
