What you would be doing

  • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of variable factors.
  • Prepare daily progress reports, periodic photographic progress reports and keep the Package Manager informed on progress of assigned tasks.
  • Post contact award, supports reviews of contractor methodology, schedule, resource plan and construction risk assessment workshop (CRAW).
  • Monitor delivery of the works by the external contractor to ensure full contractual compliance is met with a focus on:
  • Witness inspections and tests of installed facilities and equipment as required by specification and supports the Package Manager in the release of hold points in installation, inspection and testing.
  • Oversee site product quality, support inspections and provide oversight as required.
  • Responsible for ensuring a high level of compliance to, and consistent application of, the Contract Lifecycle Management Framework and the reporting of any contractor breach of this framework.
  • Responsible for ensuring external contractors undertaking complex construction activities on behalf of Western Power comply fully with the Contract Lifecycle Management Framework and all contractual compliance obligations and requirements.
  • Comply with requirements of the project’s Management System including the requirement to complete the safety and quality KPI’s.
  • Inspect work and elevate inspection requirements to the Package Manager where cross discipline input is required
  • Influence the outcomes and quality of the contractor’s performance by drawing on specialised experience to make recommendations.
  • Inspect construction work for compliance with drawings, specifications and codes.
  • Review of contractor’s technical submittals including method statements, safe systems of work, permit applications and change proposals
  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Monitor schedule progress focusing on critical path activities and associated contractor deliverables

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
  • Good understanding of construction techniques and constructability issues.
  • Demonstrated experience in the Construction of infrastructure projects. Electrical HV experience preferred.
  • Experience with switchgear and switchgear upgrades
  • Good understanding of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental issues associated with the Construction industry.
  • Experience with overhead transmission line installation, upgrades and operations preferred
  • Demonstrated Electrical supervision, leading hand or field engineering experience
  • Good working knowledge of basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Customer side experience in the monitoring of construction preferred.
