What you would be doing

Perform testing of customer commodities in accordance with approved methods utilizing laboratory testing apparatus or equipment and ASTM standards
Perform routine cleaning/maintenance/repair on all lab equipment.
Manage sample retain and retention program.
Perform preventive maintenance of all laboratory equipment including prescribed standardization and calibration checks and adjustments
Determine and monitor line displacements and product cuts to ensure that product integrity is maintained in accordance with regulatory guidelines and product specifications
Obtain and test tank, line and pipeline samples in accordance with standard operating procedures
Generate Certificate of Analysis (COA) documents.
Order lab equipment and supplies as needed.
Maintain accurate database records utilizing standard computer software applications
Assist outside inspection companies on where to obtain pipeline samples and escort them throughout the facilities
Assist customer representatives in order to have a double verification to ensure quality of their product
Research/create testing programs for new products.
Customer Quality Log development, record control and maintenance.
Customer reporting including analysis feedback reporting (SAP systems)
Perform control charting and equipment calibration as required.
Interact with field operations and control room personnel to report testing results to assure quality control of customer commodities
Prepare and issue accurate laboratory reports and logs as required by customers and management

Job requires working at other locations on weekends and night shifts
Excellent mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication, and percentages) are required
Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate across all levels of the organization are essential

High level of concentration and very detail-oriented
Willingness and ability to be on call to cover vacations, sick leave, short or long term, and any emergencies that might arise
Physical requirements include, but may not be limited to, walking up and down stairs/ladders, negotiating uneven surfaces, and carry up to 50 pounds
Must be able to wear standard PPE (hard hat, goggles, rain gear, steel toe boots), and qualify to wear a full-face respirator
1 to 3 years of terminal experience required and some lab experience preferred
Must have good customer service skills
Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, including Word and Excel
At least 1 or more years of experience performing and detailed knowledge of quantitative and qualitative analysis methodology
Experience with handling hazardous liquid chemicals
GED, high school diploma or college degree will be considered for this position
Willingness and ability to work 12-hour rotating shift and overtime as required, including holidays, nights and weekends
Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions as outside work is mandatory year round
Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, industrial hygiene and other industry regulations a major plus
Minimum three (3) years of work experience in the petrochemical industry or a refinery and one (1) to three (3) years of hands-on field experience sampling storage tanks and testing collected samples with automated lab equipment is required
Mandatory drug screening in addition to passing a background check necessary for hire
