The graduate engineer will assist the project team in designing public infrastructure, preparing construction drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents. Responsibilities include producing engineering reports, feasibility studies, utility evaluations, and various design exhibits. Coordination with agency staff and internal support teams on design analysis and issue resolution is also required.
Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Graduate Engineer to join its Public Infrastructure team. The role supports licensed civil engineers while learning company practices and local agency codes, and involves technical calculations, plan and specification production, and project management tasks. Candidates should be organized, self‑motivated, and capable of solving complex issues on time and within budget as they work toward a Professional Engineering license.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is essential for developing calculations in Excel, drafting reports and letters in Word, and creating presentations in PowerPoint. The role also requires using AutoCAD Civil3D (and optionally MicroStation) to generate grading plans, profiles, construction details, and other design drawings.
The ideal candidate is outgoing, team‑oriented, and possesses strong communication and active‑listening skills. Technical competence, detail‑orientation, flexibility to see the big picture, and the ability to collaborate and accept others’ ideas are expected. A supportive mindset, ability to work independently or in a team, and a good reputation among peers, clients, and agencies are valued.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or be able to obtain it within 6‑12 months) and an Engineer‑in‑Training certificate (or obtain within the same timeframe). Basic knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D is required. Westwood offers a culture focused on people, innovation, and community impact, and has been recognized as a top firm to work for.
