Head of Credit Risk

Description

To realise this ambition, our client is looking for an expert to lead the credit risk & data science team. As a senior member of the business, the incumbent will act as delegate to the Chief Risk Officer on all credit risk matters working closely with Management and funding partners; with additional responsibility for developing the data science practice bringing market leading modelling & analytical experience to the organisation

• Collaborate with operations by providing analytical & strategy support on a day-to-day basis
• Embed a data driven, analytical approach to all credit & business decisions – monitoring performance, identifying profitable growth opportunities and taking timely actions to mitigate emerging risks.
• Deputise for the CRO on credit matters acting as a Subject Matter Expert in all stakeholder discussions including funders, regulators and auditors.
• Ensure that the loan book performs within the appetite set by the Board and agreed with funders; while maximising portfolio profitability
• Work with front line teams in building superior customer journeys, penetrating new customer segments and increasing profitable sales
• Keep abreast of trends and wider consumer lending industry; be a confidante to the Executive Committee on all matters which can improve business and customer outcomes.
• Act as a role model espousing the values of ownership, integrity and transparency at all times.
• Be accountable for all aspects of credit risk management – portfolio quality, scoring models, credit policy, loss forecasting and collections analytics.

Requirements

Our client is going through an exciting new phase of growth and is looking for a motivated individual who is an expert in credit risk and is passionate about leveraging data & technology to transform the lending journeys.

Must have experience of working in the retail credit risk/B2C space.

• Numerate (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Physics or Engineering) with superior academic & professional pedigree – someone who prides in being the best in their field.
• Individual with high integrity, relationship building skills and commands respect of juniors, peers and seniors at all times
• Excellent communicator who can work across diverse stakeholder groups; comfortable presenting and explaining technical information in a non-technical way
• Expert in retail credit risk or lending product management underpinned by a strong analytical background.
• Deep understanding and hands-on experience of managing a consumer lending portfolio (auto loans, credit cards, personal loans, mortgages)
