The Lab/Facility Chemist performs chemical analyses of hazardous and non‑hazardous waste to determine compliant treatment and disposal, using a variety of analytical techniques and instruments.
Key duties include preparing samples, conducting instrumental analysis of organic and inorganic constituents per EPA methods and SOPs, and assisting in the creation of SOPs and work instructions. The chemist also manages instrument sequencing, performs basic maintenance, prepares analytical standards, validates methods, and documents results with accuracy. Additionally, they conduct initial and annual demonstrations of capability, research treatment options, provide technical support for formula development, and uphold a clean, safe work environment.
Preferred qualifications include a solid understanding of chemistry principles, waste processing protocols, and quality management standards such as ISO and NELAC. Candidates should be proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and have knowledge of RCRA, TSCA, and related regulations, typically gained through up to one year of progressive experience. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills are essential.
