Principal Site Reliability Engineer

Description

As a strategic leader on the Platform Services and Emerging Technologies team, you will define the architectural roadmap, drive initiatives that improve reliability, performance, and scalability, and oversee the underlying infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with internal engineering groups to understand their CI/CD needs, provide proactive support, and promote best practices for adopting CloudOS.

• Lead design, development, deployment, testing, maintenance, and enhancement of CloudOS features.
• Define the architectural roadmap and vision for CloudOS aligning with business goals.
• Drive initiatives to improve platform reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Oversee CloudOS infrastructure ensuring reliability, security, cost optimization across Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Develop and enforce policies, standards, and procedures for cloud infrastructure management.
• Configure, manage, and upgrade Jenkins and Spinnaker; contribute upstream or create custom extensions.
• Create automation scripts for provisioning, deployment, monitoring, and operations using Python, Go, Java, and Terraform.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to understand CI/CD needs, provide support, troubleshoot issues, and promote best practices.
• Implement and optimize monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to maintain platform health.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to ensure optimal system performance.
• Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and facilitate knowledge transfer.
• Stay current with industry trends in CI/CD, cloud‑native technologies, DevOps, and platform engineering.
• Manage on‑call rotation and incident response for CloudOS, driving continuous improvement from learnings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Computer Engineering, or related field with 8+ years in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or SRE.
• Deep understanding of CI/CD principles and hands‑on experience with tools like Spinnaker, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Argo CD/Workflows.
• Experience with major public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Proficiency in scripting/programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Experience with Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, Datadog, ELK).
• Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and strategic mindset.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Direct experience managing, configuring, or extending CI/CD pipelines.
• Contributions to open‑source cloud‑native or CI/CD projects.
• Strong expertise in AWS and deep Kubernetes operational knowledge.
• Experience building and supporting internal developer platforms.
• Familiarity with multi‑region cloud architectures and deployment strategies.
• Experience with GitOps workflows.
