The opportunity The Estimator will support the estimating function through the effective management of Downer's estimating and validation of WIP and cost to complete validation on our Water projects for the Energy & Utilities business unit. The successful applicant can envision themselves attending to duties such as: What you'll do

  • Develop relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Prepare first principles estimates and present cost estimates to management at varying levels of design certainty
  • Review and analyse project risk, opportunity and contingency allowances
  • Develop and review subcontractor RFT packages
  • Maintain an approved estimating package and database
  • Review bids against actual project performance to refine future proposals

  • Commercial skills and understanding of financial administration and project costing
  • Proficient in current market estimating systems (Candy, Expert, benchmark)
  • The ability to work well within a team as well as on sole-charge work
  • Familiarity with engineering disciplines and experience with a variety of forms of contract including partnering and alliancing
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Well-developed organisational skills - including written and oral communication
