- You will recommend final route based on most economical solution and permitting agency’s requirements
- You will visit customer sites to gather OSP site survey information, evaluate customer requirements and determine the OSP equipment required
- You will coordinate with drafting and/ or GIS personnel located in remote offices to produce construction drawings to be used to construct the network
- You will oversee and manage field engineering activities responsible for planning, designing, and obtaining permits for new cable routes
- You will research and evaluate various route options associated with the projects. Research shall include aerial and underground options, existing customer conduit and other third party conduit
- You will work as part of a multi-faceted team consisting of engineering, construction, project management, and scheduling personnel, all with a common interest of delivering results to the customer
- Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low.
- You will research and incorporate permitting requirements from jurisdictional authorities (i.e., state, county, city, railroads, and others) into the OSP design
- You will maintain safe working habits and conditions according to regulations and policies
- You will engage daily with the customer’s engineering team and project management staff via emails / phone as well as occasional in-person meetings
- May be required to work after hours; on weekends or be on-call as work is needed.
- You will develop base mapping and provide field engineering services required to prepare permit drawings, OSP construction drawings, and final as-built drawings in electronic format

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed.
- You may have familiarity in permitting requirements for state and local agencies
- Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening.
- You may have a working understanding of the RUS (Rural Utility Service) units and their meaning process
- Valid state driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
- You have experience with cable placement and splicing methods and practices
- Employees performing these job functions are required to frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds in a shift.
- You are able to travel and work extended hours; overtime and weekends as needed
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
- You have 4-6 years of experience in the OSP Engineering field - You have experience with aerial and underground construction methods and engineering requirements
- You have effective communication skills
- To be 18 years of age or older
- You have reliable transportation and a clean driving record
