Create, modify or select from existing piping line class specifications for new or upgraded piping systems
Ensure compliance with piping standards, report on cost, schedule, and quality, and support team development through reviews and coaching
Engage with 3rd party consultants, contractors, and suppliers in an Owner’s Engineer capacity, which may include scoping, directing, reviewing and approving of outsource engineering work and deliverables, development of RFQs, review of bids, and responding to clarification requests and field changes
Provide effective technical leadership and problem-solving guidance for piping system routing and tie-ins, static and dynamic pipe stress analysis (AutoPIPE and Caesar II), selection and specification of pipe materials and engineered specialty items, and piping system compliance to applicable codes, standards and regulations
Review, check, and approve (including professional sealing as required) of piping engineering and design deliverables
Perform engineering calculations
Engage with vendors, subject matter experts, and other engineering disciplines to resolve static and rotating equipment nozzle designs, arrangements and load limits
Lead by example, driving consistent adherence to established workflows, processes, procedures, and practices to ensure consistent work quality
Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate piping requirements and issues into overall project designs via estimating and scheduling workshops, field walks, 3D model reviews (Navisworks), constructability reviews, P&ID reviews, PHAs, material selection reviews, and risk assessments

Familiarity with above- and below-ground pipelines (CSA Z662), polymer-lined and refractory-lined steel piping, and pressure tubing/ fittings for pneumatic and hydraulic systems would be an asset
Proficiency with either AutoPIPE or Caesar II pipe stress analysis software, and with Plant3D and Navisworks is a strong asset
Ability to work in various field conditions year-round, including wearing full PPE, performing physical tasks, and working at heights and in enclosed spaces
Effective technical leader, able to competently assign, manage and review piping engineering activities on multiple projects being developed in parallel
Minimum of 15 years of design experience in process and utility piping design for brownfield industrial facilities, ideally in oil and gas refining or terminals
University degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, with P.Eng. designation (or immediate eligibility) in New Brunswick is required
Excellent communication skills and ability to address complex technical issues, risks, and outcomes and coach and develop your team members to do the same
Proven ability to work collaboratively
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, including work planning, work review and approval, performance management, coaching, and leadership and development, and team performance reporting
Experience working in a stage-gated capital project environment, where design work progresses incrementally, and project performance and documentation requirements apply
Working proficiency with applicable codes, standards, and regulations, governing process and utility piping material selection, routing, support and interfaces, including ASME B31.1, 31.3, 31.4, 31.8, BPVC Sections II, VIII, XIII, various API standards, and CSA Z662, B139, B149, and B51
Strong analytical skills, paired with aptitude for problem-solving
Working proficiency with static and dynamic pipe stress analysis methods and tools (AutoPIPE or Caesar II) to determine pipe stress and deflections, as well as forces and moments on supporting structures, equipment nozzles, and other fittings and fixtures
