Be responsible for, operate and maintain instruments such as, air sampling pumps, XRFs, and other scientific equipment.
Participate in TRC’s health and safety program, conduct daily pre-job tailgate meetings and/or job safety assessments.
Capture field data/information/photographs accurately meeting high expectation of quality.
Communicate with managers and field team regarding project status and requirements.
Participants in Youth Build programs;
Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment, which may include tight fitting respirators.
Maintain daily logs of activities related to project work.
Deliver all field logs, data, samples and/or equipment to and from various project sites, laboratories, and office locations.

Work effectively at project sites, independently, with a team, or under direct supervision, as the needs require.
Travel throughout all five boroughs of New York City. Potential travel outside of New York City as needed.
Experience with water quality field measurements (e.g. pH, chlorine) and collection of water samples for various biological and chemical laboratory analyses.
Prior experience with lead hazards is a plus.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Residents of other public housing projects managed by NYCHA or residents of Section 8-assisted housing managed by NYCHA
Low- and very low-income persons residing in New York City.
Lift and carry 20 pounds regularly. May require lifting up to 60 pounds on occasion.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, physical and motor vehicle records check.
Strong verbal communication skills and ability to interact respectfully with residents and other stakeholders, to meet project objectives and maintain confidentiality.
This position requires long-term standing, walking, and perhaps repetitive motions.
Consideration will be granted to candidates with advanced college degrees, with a preference to scientific disciplines such as Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences, or Engineering.
Strong preference for candidates possessing any of the following certifications:
Ability to read construction plans.
Ability to carry and climb ladders and being able to use hand and power tools.

Strong organizational skills.
Must be able to learn, and demonstrate competency in the use of new technologies, and applications.
Must be a reliable team player, able to communicate with project management team, and follow instructions.
Most work shifts are Monday through Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM. Must be able to adapt to alternate work shifts, including overnight or weekend shifts when needed.
