

Provides design/build plumbing, HVAC and fire‑protection systems for commercial & institutional projects.
Support project teams by obtaining competitive pricing, issuing purchase orders, and ensuring all procured materials meet project specifications.
Process material orders from field foremen, coordinating the most efficient delivery logistics to the shop or directly to the jobsite.
Oversee all shop operations, including personnel (1-3 people), safety, organization, and efficient workflows for material handling and pre-fabrication support.
Ensure all purchases align with company standards, specifications, and budgets.
Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards across all shop and warehouse operations.
Manage the end-to-end receiving and shipping process, ensuring accuracy, proper inspection, and meticulous documentation for all materials.
As our Purchasing and Plumbing & Pipe Shop Manager, you will be the operational hub for our shop and material logistics. This critical role is responsible for the efficient management of our plumbing and pipe shop, encompassing all procurement activities, inventory control, and the seamless flow of materials to our jobsites. You will be the vital link between our field operations, project management teams, and vendors, ensuring our commercial plumbing and HVAC projects are supplied with the right materials, at the right price, and at the right time.
Track material costs and assist with cost control initiatives.
Serve as the primary purchasing agent for all plumbing and HVAC piping, fixtures, equipment, and appurtenances.
Maintain organized records of purchases, pricing, and vendor information.
Collaborate with the Sheet Metal Shop Foreman to identify and capitalize on cost-saving opportunities and economies of scale.
Regularly update estimators & project managers on changes in material and equipment costs to ensure accurate project bids and budgeting.
Keep the interior and exterior of the plumbing shop organized.
Reconcile purchase orders with invoices to ensure billing accuracy and approve invoices for payment.
Perform an inventory of all plumbing- and piping-related materials at least once a year. Keep updated lists of materials and plumbing fixtures that can be used on our job sites.
Strong negotiation skills and a track record of building successful vendor relationships.
Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
5+ years of experience in the mechanical contracting industry, with a strong background in commercial plumbing and HVAC materials.
A proactive, self-starter attitude with exceptional organizational skills and a team-oriented mindset.
Proven experience in a purchasing, procurement, or shop management role.
Demonstrated experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, and logistics.
Expert knowledge of piping, fittings, valves, fixtures, and equipment used in commercial plumbing and HVAC systems.
Proficiency with inventory management software and the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with construction management or accounting software (e.g., Foundation, Viewpoint, Sage, Procore, etc.).
