Key responsibilities include planning and directing construction activities in the field, setting build schedules, and maintaining profitability by reviewing field purchase orders. The manager will train, communicate with, and develop field personnel while overseeing production times to ensure homes meet company standards and are ready for homeowner orientation and occupancy.
The role also requires ensuring all homes are constructed to contract specifications, fully invoiced, and 100% complete, as well as enforcing OSHA and state safety standards. Additional duties involve visiting job sites to check quality, interfacing with public agencies for permits and approvals, assisting other Construction Area Managers, handling escalated subcontractor issues, and responding to unsatisfactory survey cards to drive quality improvements.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, seven years of related construction experience, a valid driver’s license, and a personal vehicle. They need a high degree of construction knowledge, the ability to read and interpret construction documents, general knowledge of municipal permitting and building codes, strong communication skills, and the ability to control cost overruns and manage budgets. Proficiency with DRH construction applications, MS Office, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds are required; a bachelor’s degree and bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred.
