The senior design engineer will collaborate with discipline engineers, designers, and clients to ensure all requirements are met. Responsibilities include developing digital control system architectures, preparing functional and procurement specifications, producing evaluation reports, and generating design documentation such as cable block diagrams and schematics.
Additional duties involve interfacing with vendors, drafting equipment purchase specifications, writing clear technical reports, attending client meetings, and conducting site walk‑downs. The role also includes mentoring less‑experienced I&C design engineers and adhering to a hybrid work schedule with three days per week on site.
- Design digital control systems (PLC, DCS, touchscreen displays, network switches) for nuclear power plants.
- Develop functional requirement and procurement specifications for instrumentation and control systems.
- Prepare process instrumentation replacement evaluation reports.
- Create design input documentation, including cable block diagrams and schematics.
- Coordinate with vendors and draft equipment purchase specifications.
- Write technical reports and studies that clearly present information to meet client requirements.
- Attend client meetings and perform site walkdowns to ensure satisfaction with deliverables.
- Mentor and guide less‑experienced nuclear instrumentation and controls design engineers.

Candidates must hold a BS in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program and possess at least five years of design engineering experience for process control systems, along with strong verbal and written communication skills. Preferred qualifications include experience with nuclear power plant control systems and a Professional Engineer license.
