Contribute to the development of sustainable plumbing solutions, including low-flow fixture selection and water conservation strategies
Prepare isometric and riser diagrams to aid installation and inspection processes
Participate in the coordination of plumbing layouts with architectural, structural, and mechanical systems to avoid conflicts during construction
Assist with fixture unit counts, plumbing load calculations, and system sizing to meet flow, pressure, and code requirements
Contribute to medical gas system designs, including oxygen and waste anesthetic gas scavenging systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA 99
Collaborate on cloud-based models through BIM 360 for real-time interdisciplinary coordination
Support the design of plumbing systems under the direct supervision of a licensed Mechanical Professional Engineer, including domestic water, sanitary, waste, vent, and grease waste systems for commercial facilities (e.g., clinics, restaurants, retail spaces) in compliance with IPC, UPC, and local codes
Support the development and sizing of natural gas systems (low and medium pressure) for plumbing and mechanical equipment, including pressure drop calculations, load summaries, and regulator configurations
Assist in specifying backflow prevention devices (e.g., RPZ, DCVA, AVB) per project needs and code requirements
Aid in the design of grease waste drainage systems, including interceptor sizing and kitchen waste separation, aligned with health and plumbing codes
Support the selection and sizing of domestic water booster and sump pump systems under guidance
Contribute to the calculation of ventilation air requirements in accordance with ASHRAE 62.1; support design of outside air and exhaust systems
Assist in the preparation of mechanical and plumbing construction documents, including plan layouts, schedules, and technical specifications
Use AutoCAD MEP and Revit (MEP) to support 2D drafting and 3D modeling; participate in BIM coordination and clash detection activities
Work closely and collaborate directly with equipment representatives to assist in the selection of mechanical equipment such as RTUs, AHUs, and other HVAC units, based on engineered load data and project specifics
Help identify appropriate piping materials (e.g., PVC, CPVC, copper, PEX, stainless steel) based on specific application needs
Assist in sizing hot water systems and return lines; apply temperature control and Legionella prevention practices as directed
Assist in designing gas piping systems for mechanical heating equipment, ensuring compliance with relevant codes
Perform heating and cooling load calculations using HAP software, under supervision, in alignment with ASHRAE standards
Use manufacturer-specific selection software to support sizing of domestic water heaters, recirculation pumps, mixing valves, and gas-fired equipment (e.g., A.O. Smith, Grundfos, Taco, Watts)
Assist with HVAC system design, including duct layouts for supply, return, and exhaust air, focusing on efficiency and air quality
