Provide consultation to project managers regarding design changes.
Coordinate and collaborate across all discipline-specific designers and modelers.
Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards for Fire Protection System Designs and Layouts (NFPA 13, NFPA 72, etc.).
Attend kick-off meetings, BIM coordination meetings and weekly review meetings
Work on design and BIM workflows to improve quality and efficiency
Generate a bill of material for projects based on design
Manage design projects and maintain good relationships with customers.
Design sprinkler systems and create shop drawings following NFPA, FM Global, OBC and other applicable standards.
Work with customers and field teams to ensure the accuracy and constructability of the different designed systems.
Conduct field/job site surveys to determine existing fire protection systems conditions for future design and installation.
Submit and process building permit applications to different municipalities across Ontario.
Prepare As Built 2D and 3D drawings for internal and customers record.
Maintain proper project documentation including submittals and approvals.
Responsible for the creation of detailed design documents from project specifications, architectural drawings, and code requirements using AutoCAD, Revit, and other fire protection software.
Preparing project package submissions following project standards and requirements.
Accurately forecast hours to complete design on projects.
Conduct and clash detection, and BIM coordination during when project requires.
Prepare and perform technical skills tests for design applicants.
Perform on-site flow tests following NFPA 291 Standard and their corresponding reports.
Work with managers to develop project timelines and produce designs according to schedule.
Attend onsite BIM coordination meetings (when requested by client)
Collaborate in recruiting activities and interviews.
Provide training and support to new designers and team members.
Review drawings and BIM models to ensure completeness and accuracy of work

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Ability to solve basic math problems including geometry and algebra.
Experience in fire protection system design to include Fire Alarm, Detection, and Communication Systems is an asset
Working experience of AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks is required
Knowledge of fire safety plans is an asset
Working experience of SprinkCAD, HydraCAD, AutoSprink or equivalent sprinkler design software is an asset
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, MSOffice and will to learn Sprinkler Design Software, and a hydraulic calculation program
At least 2-5 years experience in mechanical, electrical, or fire protection design (Fire Protection preferred)
Ability to read project contract drawings (i.e., Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Architect, and civil drawings) for design build
