

Provides consulting services across engineering, project management, and technical solutions.
Feasibility, outline, and detailed mechanical design, including P&IDs, hydraulic design, design risk assessments, control philosophies, commissioning strategies, cost and programme estimations, plant and equipment specifications and carbon calculations.
Technical report writing at all stages of the project lifecycle.
Undertaking DSEAR assessments.
Participation in Hazard Studies including HAZOP, Access, Lifting and Maintenance.
Production of general arrangement drawings and detail mechanical design drawings.
Support fee proposals or offers of service; development of activity schedules/work plans.
Development of standard and bespoke design solutions for the water industry and beyond.
You will be delivering project tasks, designs and managing a multi-disciplinary team delivering solutions on wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects at various stages in the project life cycle. Ensuring they are delivered within agreed timeframes and budget.
Check and review calculations and reports prepared by others.
Site surveys and assessments of the capacity of the plant to meet future demands.
Encouraging and motivating those around you to work to your own high standards of quality and compliance.
Extensive experience conducting technical reviews.
Extensive experience in feasibility, outline, and detailed design.
Experience with AutoCAD although not essential.
Ability to work remotely whilst successfully achieving deliverable-based outcomes through a virtual team.
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and clients.
Chartered Engineer or working towards this. Relevant experience will also be considered.
Ability to manage a CAD resource to produce engineering drawings.
Extensive experience and expertise in the production of hydraulic calculations including but not limited to pipelines and pump duties.
Extensive experience with proposal fee / hours estimation for design schemes.
Extensive experience and understanding of sewage treatment processes and the equipment/system requirements.
An industry applicable BEng, BSc, or equivalent in mechanical engineering.
Ability to prioritise a varied workload and demonstrate good time management to comply with deadlines.
Ability to manage and mentor junior engineers including training and development.
Knowledge of United Utilities engineering standards and specification.
Ability to generate innovative and/or technically differentiated solutions to problems, to deliver added value for clients.
Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft (Office) 365 packages.
Understanding of DSEAR, CDM, WIMES, British and European Standards and other statutory, regulatory, and non-regulatory provisions and guidance.
Ability to foster and develop positive relationships through support of business partners and key clients.
Considering CAPEX and OPEX implications of design decisions at all stages of a project.
