The Machine Shop Mechanic maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs a range of machine shop equipment, including CNC machines, lathes, mills, and grinders. The role ensures equipment runs efficiently, safely, and complies with company and industry standards. Compensation is $25‑$30 per hour, dependent on experience.
Key duties involve inspecting and servicing machinery to reduce downtime, diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults, and performing preventive maintenance. The mechanic replaces worn components, updates service logs, collaborates with shop personnel to schedule repairs, manages spare‑part inventory, and reads technical drawings to ensure all work meets safety standards.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair machine shop equipment to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues in CNC and manual machines.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks according to the company’s maintenance schedule.
- Replace worn or damaged machine components such as bearings, gears, seals, belts, and motors.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and update service logs.
- Collaborate with machinists, operators, and supervisors to coordinate repair schedules and minimize production disruptions.
- Order and manage spare parts inventory as needed.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Ensure all repairs meet safety and operational standards.
- Follow all company safety protocols and wear required PPE.
- Work in confined spaces or elevated areas as needed.

Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED, with technical training preferred, and possess three or more years of machine maintenance experience. Required skills include strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, ability to use hand and power tools, read blueprints, and troubleshoot issues; basic welding is advantageous. The position also demands the physical ability to lift 50 lb, stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined or elevated spaces.
