The Security of Critical Infrastructure (SoCI) Act 2018 requires Melbourne Water, as an operator of critical infrastructure, to prepare a Critical Infrastructure Risk Management Program (CIRMP), which has been undertaken and managed by the Security and Emergency Management Team.
- Make decisions that minimize whole-of-life costs for assets and services.
- Provide technical leadership, coordination, and oversight of programs within assigned asset portfolios and disciplines, working collaboratively across the business.
- Offer guidance and support to team members as required.
- Manage infrastructure assets in partnership with peers to optimize capital programs, maintenance strategies, and deliver technical and asset management expertise.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, providing technical advice to Service Delivery (Operations and Maintenance) teams.
- Develop business cases for capital projects aligned with Melbourne Water’s capital management framework.
- Execute Asset Management tasks in line with established processes, including maintenance strategy development, condition monitoring, technical query resolution, root cause analysis, and asset registration in Maximo.

We are particularly keen to hear from engineers with a mechanical engineering background, or those with experience in analytical instrumentation.
Melbourne Water are required to assess roles across Melbourne Water to determine what roles are critical under the Act. All employees working in a role deemed SOCI critical will require additional background checks via AusCheck. These Senior Asset Manager positions are deemed critical and the preferred applicant will be asked to undertake an AusCheck.
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline and general understanding of the water and sewerage system including treatment.
- Obtain AusCheck Clearance. (please see important information below*)
- Proven history of working as a collaborative team member and working in a constructive culture to achieve customer centric outcomes
- Strong interpersonal skills together with excellent verbal and written skills
- Experience with IT systems (Eg: MS Office, Maximo, GIS, etc.)
- Ability to critically explore and analyse solution options and evaluate consequences of different risk scenarios and implement appropriate cost-effective risk management techniques.

- Experience in the lifecycle management of water industry assets or equivalent industry/infrastructure including condition monitoring of assets.
- Hold a Valid Australian Drivers Licence
- Active engineering registration in a related discipline (i.e. mechanical/electrical) relevant to the position is required.
- Demonstrate initiative and ability to prioritise and perform complex professional/technical work with general supervision and exercise professional/technical judgement
