Nurse Educator / IPC-Infection Prevention & Control [HCC]

Description

The educator collaborates with department supervisors and community partners to develop and deliver annual and ongoing educational plans, including in‑service training and orientation programs. Participation in the Infection Prevention & Control Committee and Integrated Quality Management Committee ensures that staff, residents and families receive up‑to‑date infection control practices.

• Coordinate, plan, implement, and evaluate orientation program for new employees.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary leaders to ensure comprehensive orientation within optimal timeframe.
• Develop, present, and evaluate in‑service and educational programs.
• Maintain clinical competence and meet legislative, provincial, and accreditation standards.
• Contribute to quality and safety by participating in site committees (Leadership Team, Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Medical Advisory).
• Maintain positive liaison with community partners and resource agencies.
• Lead or participate in quality improvement and performance measurement initiatives.
• Facilitate implementation and evaluation of infection prevention and control policies and guidelines.
• Collect and analyze infection control data through quality improvement audits.
• Provide consultation on infection risk, prevention, and control strategies.
• Monitor critical infection control indicators such as hand hygiene, influenza, and COVID‑19 vaccination rates.
• Ensure employees read, understand, and comply with Park Place and occupational health and safety policies.
• Serve as lead Infection Prevention and Control designate.
• Maintain current practicing registration with the applicable provincial regulatory body.
• Apply problem‑solving, critical thinking, and decision‑making with systems analysis.
• Establish professional relationships with care team members, residents, and families.
• Manage purposeful change aligned with the organization’s vision and strategic directions.
• Intervene to resolve conflict, manage stress, and handle work pressure effectively.
• Apply continuous quality improvement tools in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

Commitment to quality, safety and compliance is demonstrated through involvement in site committees, quality‑improvement initiatives and adherence to provincial and accreditation standards. The position requires maintaining clinical competence, effective communication, problem‑solving abilities, and the physical capacity to perform duties such as lifting, walking and bending.

• Hold a Baccalaureate of Nursing with Gerontology content or equivalent education, training, and experience.
• Demonstrated background in teaching or facilitating classroom training.
• Communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Utilize computer skills and manage nursing‑related care equipment.
• Perform physical tasks including lifting up to 20 lb, frequent walking, bending, and crouching; flexible hours required.
