As a Senior Application Engineer, you will be tasked with the development of control system engineering and standard application software selection for all assigned projects. The system design will be in accordance with the project estimates, the account representative’s special instructions, and in compliance with the project design documents (plans and specifications). The design includes submittal and installation documents such as overall control network architecture, detailed wiring termination sheets, parts lists, equipment schedules, sequences of operation, application programming checklists, and point‑to‑point control system checkout lists.
You will be responsible for equipment selection, proper sizing, capacity calculations, and field coordination during installation and final commissioning. Communication will be maintained with the account representative, the assigned control system project manager, automation specialists, installation technicians, and the mechanical systems project manager.
- Select control equipment and perform capacity calculations and proper sizing (valves, dampers, panels, controllers, memory).
- Review control sequences and components to identify scope gaps and cost‑saving opportunities; communicate findings with the Engineer of Record.
- Prepare control system submittals, as‑built wiring diagrams, and operation & maintenance manuals according to the project schedule.
- Coordinate with Project Support Center for Revit work, assemble submittal/O&M packages, and manage material logistics.
- Ensure designs adhere to building specifications, VE modifications, sales estimates, and McKenney’s ACS standards.
- Contribute to ongoing enhancement of ACS design standards and develop standard control sequences for programmers.
- Choose the appropriate controls platform to meet functional goals while staying within budget.
- Mentor and develop junior applications engineers.
- Maintain meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, and quality while handling multiple tasks.
- Comply with safety protocols in environments with temperature extremes, dust, noise, and construction hazards.
