Director of Engineering

Description

As Director of Engineering, you will be the company’s top technical leader, responsible for the strategy and execution of both Electrical and Mechanical Engineering functions across panelboards, switchboards, and custom power distribution system, from feasibility and design through compliance and manufacturing release.

• Lead and grow cross-disciplinary engineering teams
• Coaching and developing engineering managers in both disciplines
• Engineering standards for UL/NEMA compliance, safety, and manufacturability
• Drive design for performance, reliability, cost, serviceability, and compliance
• Set technical direction for panelboard, switchboard, and distribution system design
• Scaling engineering throughput to match the sales pipeline
• Partner with manufacturing leadership to ensure designs are buildable at scale
• Establish consistent engineering process, documentation standards, and quality gates

Requirements

Electrical Distribution Equipment (Panelboards, Switchboards, Custom Power Systems)

Not a fit: those with EPC-only, MEP design, consulting, or general manufacturing without direct power distribution equipment backgrounds.

• Bachelor’s in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Advanced degree / PE a plus)
• 15+ years in engineering in power distribution OEMs
• Comfortable onsite in NJ + regular travel to OK
• Technical decision authority on complex custom builds
• Deep custom power distribution equipment experience (panelboards, switchboards, switchgear, EVSE, custom engineered power distribution systems)
• Strong track record of owning technical decisions on engineered products
• 7+ years leading engineering teams
