As a Gensler Technical Designer, you will apply your creativity to shape unique environments, providing design expertise from concept through completion across all design stages. You will work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams to deliver innovative architectural solutions that respond to client needs and sustainability goals.
You will participate in every project phase, including programming, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and production. Collaboration with design teams, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, and vendors will be essential to meet overall project objectives. You will generate graphic presentations, 3D renderings, plans, elevations, details, sections, and detailed construction drawings, while also using hand rendering techniques to communicate concepts.
Candidates should have 0‑2 years of professional experience in an architectural practice and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or an equivalent field. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, graphic presentation, and written and verbal communication skills are required, along with a creative and technically‑oriented portfolio. Proficiency in 2D/3D modeling software such as Revit, Octane, 3dViz, 3ds MAX, Rhino, and V‑Ray, as well as Adobe Creative Suite and/or SketchUp, is expected.
Essential design technology skills include basic familiarity with Autodesk Revit for modeling and documentation, while knowledge of Rhino, interoperability workflows between AutoCAD, Revit, and Rhino, and real‑time rendering processes are desirable. The role involves working with a variety of applications: design authoring (Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, Navisworks), collaboration (BIM360), computational design (Grasshopper, Dynamo), building performance simulation (Insight, Sefaira, Diva, Ladybug), visualization (V‑Ray, Enscape, Twinmotion, 3DS Max), graphics (Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office), and experiential platforms (Unreal Engine, Unity, C#, Python).
