Key responsibilities include using wrecking bars, sledgehammers, torch cutting, electrical and air power tools, axes, shovels, and operating heavy equipment to safely demolish structures. Workers must ensure that all electrical power is terminated, fire alarm and sprinkler systems are offline or protected, and hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead paint, and FM‑200 systems are identified and managed. Low‑voltage and communications lines must be terminated, and any live utilities that must remain operational are identified.
Demolition work also requires proper support of structural items that remain in place, protection of components, recycling of materials according to contract documents or local jurisdiction, and continuous cleanup of the work area. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Applicants need at least one year of experience operating heavy equipment and performing demolition work. Physical requirements include lifting or pulling up to 75 lb, climbing ladders, working off ladders or man‑lifts, and maintaining standing, squatting, bending, or kneeling positions while wearing a tool belt, often in varied weather conditions. Candidates must adhere to OSHA and Swinerton safety practices, uphold the company’s Core Values, and support activities across all Swinerton sites.
The position offers an hourly compensation range of $20.00 to $28.00. The primary focus is to remove, teardown, and strip the interiors of structures, extracting any valuable items. Employees will support activities at all Swinerton job sites as directed.
