Crane Operator

Description

• Maintain daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly inspections and be responsible for basic maintenance of crane and rigging associated with operations.
• Notify appropriate chain of command of any defaults with crane or rigging.
• Support structures operations, including but not limited to, forming substructure, setting steel and concrete girders, and placing reinforced concrete decks
• Check radius and set up of crane before operations begin
• Maintain a safe and productive crane, including performing routine maintenance
• Inspect work sites to ensure safety of workers
• Climb ladders, work at heights, walk and stand on uneven surfaces, ride, or work from a barge, pier, vessel, etc.
• Work closely with foreman on issues of safety and toolbox talks
• Provide Input on lift plans and means and methods

Requirements

• Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manor (verbal and written)
• Ability to sit, stand, kneel, squat, push, pull, etc. for varying amounts of time.
• Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (day/night/weekend)
• Equipment Operator training and certificate from National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO), verifiable military or civilian Equipment Operator training from construction field, or related certification issued by a previous employer
• Five (5) years of verifiable experience operating cranes
• Works well must work in a high demand environment
• Ability to obtain, through evaluation, the certification to operate computerized mobile cranes up to eighty (80) tons
• Able to read and understand heavy construction plans
• Must have prior experience in rigging and signaling and bridge operations
• Experience operating additional equipment is strongly preferred
• Prior experience leading crews is strongly preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to remain outdoors for long periods of time in various seasons and conditions.
• 3-5 years’ experience in Heavy Civil Projects
• Prefer OCONUS experience operating equipment in an environment with military services, commercial agencies, and host nation elements
• Able to work in a team environment
• Pile driving experience preferred
• Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds, bend, stoop, and work safely around equipment, materials, supplies, and other items to be handled
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and ANSI standards in crane operations
