The Electrical Design Engineer will join the Load and Haul Electrical Installation team in Decatur, Illinois, working on large wheel loaders, compactors, wheel tractor scrapers, underground vehicles, and articulated trucks. This in‑office role involves coordinating cross‑functional activities across product development, manufacturing, commercial, and product support to ensure successful electrical integration.
The position offers end‑to‑end ownership of designs from concept through production, extensive cross‑functional collaboration with suppliers, manufacturing, and purchasing, and the opportunity to strengthen engineering leadership while delivering value to diverse customers. Engineers will influence performance, quality, and cost while addressing unique challenges in each application.
- Design new electrical components and systems for large wheel loaders and wheel tractor scrapers.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure manufacturability and lifecycle efficiency.
- Support supplier development and performance with supply specialists and buyers.
- Drive cross‑functional collaboration with product development, value chain, manufacturing, commercial, and support groups.
- Research and develop new technologies and document functional design requirements.
- Provide design‑review support and ensure compliance with guidelines and best practices.
- Organize, build, test, and analyze prototypes.
- Perform electrical load analysis and coordinate with system partners.

- Experience with large wheel loader, wheel tractor scraper, or mining equipment applications.
- Background in electrical installation product design and development, including SDP expertise.
- Bachelor’s degree in an accredited engineering program.
- Strong analytical and root‑cause problem‑solving abilities.
- Effective communication and ability to convey technical ideas clearly.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound time‑allocation decisions.
- Technical excellence in electrical systems and CAD tools (Creo, VisView, Teamcenter).
- Knowledge of product design, manufacturing processes, and development from concept to production.
