Description

The role involves assessing supplier quality to guarantee that all products are defect‑free and meet manufacturing specifications and legal standards. Responsibilities include conducting tests on incoming supplies, generating quality reports, researching vendors, auditing compliance, and supporting suppliers in performance improvement.

• Ensure quality of incoming supplies through testing and assessments; develop inspection, testing, and evaluation mechanisms.
• Generate supplier quality reports, monitor defect rates, and guide suppliers to reduce defects.
• Research potential vendors, assess manufacturing practices, and conduct quality control audits for compliance.
• Support suppliers in performance improvement via process enhancements, controls, and quality assurance plans.
• Deliver helpful feedback focusing on behaviors without offending the recipient.
• Make oral presentations and write reports as needed for own work.
• Avoid technical jargon when inappropriate and consider non‑verbal cues.
• Identify and document specific problems and possible resolution alternatives.
• Examine problems from each stakeholder's perspective.
• Develop alternative techniques to assess accuracy and relevance of information.

• Review complex documentation required for PPAP submissions.
• Train others on PPAP execution and approval processes.
• Contribute to development and implementation of specific manufacturing procedures.
• Investigate potential exceptions and refer them for review and approval.
• Explain rationale for procedures and standards within own responsibility area.
• Participate in implementing manufacturing standards and procedures for own function.
• Provide feedback to improve procedures.
• Facilitate supplier partnering arrangements that share risk and reward.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve discrepancies with agreements.
• Develop quality standards and controls for suppliers.
• Build and maintain partnerships with multiple or large suppliers.
• Evaluate issues and, when appropriate, terminate supplier relationships with legal coordination.

• Participate in selecting and certifying specific suppliers or products.
• Assist with steps and procedures for supplier certification.
• Research various information sources to assess supplier or product reputation.

Requirements

A degree or equivalent experience is preferred. Key competencies include effective communication, problem solving, process improvement, quality orientation, and knowledge of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), manufacturing standards, and supplier management. Candidates should demonstrate working knowledge of these areas and the ability to apply them in real‑world scenarios.
