Section Supervisor - Welding and Grinding - Wimbledon
Network Rail
Operates and maintains the UK’s rail infrastructure, ensuring safe and efficient train travel.
Supervise welding and grinding works, ensuring safety and quality at Wimbledon station.
Assisting the identification and proposal of asset renewals.
Assisting the allocation of resources.
Assisting the management, control and discipline of staff as directed.
Adhere to company policies and procedures.
Effective Planning : Work with a variety of disciplines, including S&T, Welding, and ETM, to plan and deliver work safely. You'll also coordinate the use of essential machinery, such as General Purpose Cranes and Road Rail Vehicles, ensuring that all reactive and planned works are carried out with the correct staffing and competencies in place.
Undertake specific inspections in accordance with standards as directed.
Carryout work safely and in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures, method statements and other instructions.
Assisting the development of work plans that enables work to be delivered safely, efficiently, and compliant to standards.
Deliver work in accordance with the relevant maintenance plans.
Undertake programme of staff surveillance, work quality, compliance and asset condition check as directed.
Hold and retain competencies relevant to this post and required by business need.
Lead Teams : Take charge of weekend works and abnormal operations, overseeing or assisting teams to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently. You'll run regular staff meetings to engage your team on upcoming projects, overtime requests, and training needs, helping create a collaborative and proactive work environment.
Provide appropriate information to update systems, databases, and records.
Prepare work and resource specifications and method statements including Safe System of Work Plans.
Supervise and check the quality of work delivered and confirm assets are compliant to standards.

Ideally hold (or be working towards) an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or have attained the appropriate level of knowledge gained through equivalent relevant experience.
