Lead Electrical Engineer 1 - Nuclear

Description

You will lead a group on challenging electrical engineering projects that require investigation, troubleshooting, and solution of a wide variety of issues supporting both single‑discipline and multi‑discipline efforts. Most client engagements involve extensive interface and coordination across engineering disciplines.

• Lead group efforts to deliver electrical engineering project outputs meeting technical, quality, financial, and control standards.
• Define and communicate scope of work and deliverables (calculations, specifications, drawings, design changes).
• Review status, track progress, and maintain project scope and budget while keeping the client informed.
• Conduct routine status meetings and submit progress reports.
• Track and resolve open items and emergent project issues.
• Coordinate completion of all project deliverables.
• Lead detailed design phases and ensure interface coordination with other disciplines.
• Develop project scope, cost estimates, and schedules for complex electrical modifications at nuclear power plants.
• Prepare proposals for complex electrical modifications at nuclear power plants.
• Oversee engineering design change packages to install, replace, or upgrade plant equipment for long‑term reliability.
• Perform engineering calculations supporting design changes, including AC/DC power studies, short‑circuit analysis, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, and protective relay settings.
• Create equipment procurement specifications.
• Evaluate vendor bids, respond to vendor inquiries, and track question/answer documentation.
• Interface with clients to validate scope and ensure satisfaction.
• Mentor and develop group members.
• Identify client needs that could generate strategic opportunities and leverage relationships for follow‑on work.
• Prepare and coordinate multi‑discipline proposals.

Requirements

• BSEE degree from an ABET‑accredited program.
• 10+ years designing electrical engineering systems for nuclear power plants.
• 3+ years leading an engineering design group through all project phases.
• Experience selecting equipment, materials, and assembling design change packages, calculations, and specifications.
• Experience acting as firm/client liaison in a lead engineering role.
• Experience with low and medium voltage distribution system design (transformers, generators, motors, relays, etc.).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Detail‑oriented work approach.
• Ability to obtain unescorted access badge for a nuclear station.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• No sponsorship for U.S. work authorization.
