The role involves leading or supporting scope development, cost estimating, and schedule planning, as well as reviewing protection philosophies and developing conceptual designs. The engineer will perform short‑circuit, voltage regulation, arc‑flash, and coordination studies, and select and specify equipment such as panels, ATS, generators, transformers, breakers, and switchgear.
Additional responsibilities include reviewing vendor and contractor submittals, preparing comprehensive electrical drawing packages, coordinating with CAD operators, and providing construction support. The engineer will also conduct detailed analysis using engineering software, apply industry codes and standards, and employ quality‑assurance processes to ensure design integrity.
The position is based in Springfield, MO (SGF) and is a full‑time, day‑shift role in the Engineering – Electrical category. Candidates must hold a four‑year degree and the salary ranges from $95,000 to $160,000 per year. Travel is limited to less than 10 % of the time.
TOTH is seeking an experienced Protection & Controls Engineer for its Substation Engineering Department. The engineer will design power‑system protection schemes and support specification, installation, commissioning, and testing of related equipment.
Applicants must have a BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program and at least four years of electric‑utility engineering experience. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, interpersonal and communication skills are required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office. A PE license, medium or high‑voltage design experience, and familiarity with ANSI/IEEE/NEMA standards are valued but not required.
