Key responsibilities include providing technical expertise for transportation and municipal projects, conducting traffic engineering and operations analysis, and supporting the development of new business opportunities. The candidate will prepare technical proposals, collaborate with other project managers, and actively contribute to project execution and client engagements.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, a Professional Engineer license (or can obtain one in ND and MN within six months), and PTOE certification, with at least five years of traffic engineering and transportation planning experience. Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills are required, along with proficiency in traffic modeling software (e.g., Synchro, Vissim), AutoCAD/Civil‑3D, and Microsoft Office, and a valid driver’s license.
The role may require occasional travel, overtime, and out‑of‑town stays, with physical tasks such as standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds during construction observation or surveying. Employees must adhere to company policies, safety procedures, and maintain professional involvement in industry organizations and community leadership programs.
The position offers flexible work locations, allowing the employee to work from any Apex office in North Dakota or Minnesota, or remotely within a 250‑mile radius of an office. The role requires attending in‑person business, client, and project meetings, including personnel meetings for direct supervisors, and reports directly to the Transportation Sector Leader as a strategic hire to build a traffic team.
