Manage our builder’s risk program
Provide legal advice and support on a broad range of contractual, commercial, insurance, and litigation issues
Interface with clients, client legal teams, and our internal client development team to support client development and secure work on constructed and integrated project opportunities
Collaborate closely with Design Group and Barry-Wehmiller safety teams to promote a culture of safety and wellness and confirm that safety policies and practices are properly addressed in contracts
Assist with labor/employment issues and coordinate resolution of any disputes with outside counsel and insurers
Counsel teams on project selection risks, appropriate project delivery methodology, and adherence to the firm’s commercial, legal, and risk management preferences
Maintain and update the firm’s library of standard contracts, forms, and templates
Manage project-related dispute resolution (client discussions, liens, discovery, mediations, arbitrations, litigation, position papers, settlement agreements); coordinate with the executive team, insurers, and outside counsel on dispute resolution strategies
Lead contract negotiation in coordination with the vice-president & corporate counsel, the executive team, and project leadership teams
Make an impact day-to-day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and team
Support implementation of risk-management and mitigation policies and procedures
Review design, engineering, engineer-procure-construct, design-build and construction management contracts, subcontracts, bids, equipment agreements, industry standard documents (AIA, EJCDC, ConsensusDocs, DBIA) and owner-drafted contracts

A minimum of three years of legal experience

A willingness to travel up to 15%
A background in construction law, contract negotiation, and insurance matters within a law firm or an in-house legal department (preferred)
A Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
