The Application Engineer in Fontana, CA supports engineering, project management, and business development by preparing cost proposals for relay panels and control enclosure projects. The role involves reviewing RFPs, coordinating with customers and suppliers, developing accurate estimates, designing fabrication drawings, and leading project kick‑off meetings.
- Review RFP/RFQ specifications and drawings to define scope and estimate requirements.
- Coordinate directly with customers on specification and design questions.
- Obtain and maintain pricing information from suppliers and vendors.
- Audit Building Estimators' work for omissions or errors and provide corrective feedback.
- Prepare detailed estimates covering scope of work, pricing, and labor schedules.
- Design and draft fabrication and assembly drawings for control buildings or panels as needed.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and attend weekly project meetings.
- Lead project kick‑off meetings as assigned by the department manager.
- Research new procedures and propose ideas to increase bid success rate.
- Train, coach, and develop team members on estimating and engineering topics.
- Assist in the hiring process for department personnel.
- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, and diagrams.
- Apply critical thinking and independent judgment to problem solving.
- Provide excellent interpersonal and customer service.

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering (or related field) and have at least two years of relevant experience.
