Mechanical Technologist

Description

• Review equipment selections, perform preliminary engineering calculations, and assist in developing preliminary designs.
• Prepare contract drawings, schematics, schedules, details, and sketches from conceptual design through to construction.
• Review shop drawings and other contractor submittals for compliance with construction documents.
• Perform field surveys for drawing developments, site reviews and as recorded drawings.
• Facilitate and ensure the quality of the project deliverables.
• Produce aspects of mechanical design and drawings in REVIT. Some project work may be completed in AutoCAD.
• Assist in the design of building related mechanical systems including HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems across Canada using applicable codes, standards, and reference materials.
• Follow production guidelines and project standards in the department drafting standards manual.

Requirements

• Prior experience in the construction industry would be an asset.
• Excellent verbal and written skills to communicate effectively with colleagues and staff; a “team player” approach.
• Engineering Design and Drafting Technology, Engineering Design Technology, Architectural Technologies, Mechanical Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent.
• Communicate with other team members and become familiar with Stantec standards. To complete assignments and projects in a timely manner as required by the Job Captain or supervisor.
• Good time management skills and able to work in a fastpaced work environment.
• Eager to learn with strong listening and critical thinking and problemsolving skills.
• A working knowledge of Autodesk Revit® is required. Knowledge or familiarity using AutoCAD 2020 (or newer) would be an asset.
• 3 years of previous consulting engineering experience.
• Knowledge or familiarity with LEED standards, ASHRAE, ASPE and NFPA would be considered an asset.
• Registration or eligibility for registration with ASET.
• Selfmotivated and selfstarter with a strong work ethic.
• Knowledge or familiarity with National and Alberta Building Codes, plumbing codes, fire codes, energy codes would be considered an asset.
• Knowledge or experience with building mechanical systems would be an asset.
