Senior Mechanical Engineer - Power Generation Position

Description

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead mechanical design, application engineering and technical support for power generation and temperature‑control projects across the APAC region. The role centers on diesel and gas generator systems, fuel handling, chillers, heat exchangers and HVAC, ensuring performance, reliability and compliance with Australian and international standards. Collaboration with sales, operations, QHSE and project management is essential from concept through commissioning.

• Produce detailed designs for engines, generators, fuel systems, chillers, heat exchangers, HVAC, pumps and related equipment, ensuring compliance with standards
• Size and specify mechanical components, including fuel‑gas conditioning systems for gas engines
• Provide operational support, fault finding, root‑cause analysis and performance optimisation for deployed systems
• Participate in on‑call escalation support and deliver technical input for sales bids and proposals
• Coordinate with engineering disciplines, project managers, suppliers and contractors to ensure successful project delivery
• Generate clear technical reports and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

Candidates are expected to have a solid engineering education and several years of relevant experience, with a focus on power generation and temperature‑control technologies. They should be adept at design, analysis and teamwork, and possess strong communication and project‑management skills.

• Own mechanical design and application engineering for APAC power generation and temperature‑control projects from concept to FAT/SAT and commissioning
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related) with CPEng/RPEQ eligibility
• Minimum ~5 years experience in power generation and/or temperature‑control systems
• Strong understanding of diesel and gas generator performance, reliability and emissions
• Experience sizing and selecting mechanical equipment and designing temperature‑control systems
• Knowledge of fuel parameters (heat rate, LHV/HHV, Wobbe Index) and diesel/biodiesel standards EN590/EN14214
• Proficiency in 3D AutoCAD or similar CAD tools
• Hands‑on troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills
• Effective written and verbal communication; basic project‑management capability
• Ability to work collaboratively across cross‑functional teams
