The Vocational Instructor delivers instructional services in vocational and occupational subjects such as business, computers/technology, carpentry, plumbing, and other trades, aiming to help inmates and students learn specified subject matter and acquire practical skills.
Key duties include preparing course objectives aligned with curriculum standards and contract requirements, planning and documenting individualized programs of study, delivering instruction using handouts, texts, audiovisual aids, and other materials, evaluating student performance, issuing progress reports, and providing additional instruction as needed.
Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED, have at least five years of recent full‑time experience in the relevant trade or career‑readiness skills, possess current trade certification (or be eligible for provisional teaching licensure), demonstrate clear instructional abilities, be proficient in Microsoft Office, hold a valid driver’s license, and be at least 18 years old.
