The Fabrication Technician fabricates steel, aluminum, and cast metal parts according to blueprint specifications while collaborating with team members to meet safety, quality, and productivity goals. Key duties include reading travel documents, blueprints, and oral or written instructions to set up, operate, and periodically maintain machines such as shears, Finn Power presses, Prima presses, horizontal press brakes/benders, and Trumpf lasers. The technician monitors job progress, communicates concerns, conducts root‑cause analysis for quality or production issues, and proactively seeks process improvements. Quality responsibilities involve measuring finished parts, performing visual inspections, identifying non‑conforming items, and troubleshooting errors.
Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED, be eligible to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship, and reside within 50 miles of Greenwood, SC (with an exemption for active‑duty military). Relevant experience includes machine operation or a machine‑certificate program, sheet‑metal fabrication with punch and bend tooling, blueprint reading, and familiarity with measuring devices such as tape measures and calipers.
The position requires strong verbal and written communication, persuasive abilities, analytical problem‑solving, and effective teamwork. Physical demands include standing, walking, reaching above shoulder level, gripping, lifting or carrying up to 50 lb, and using vision for depth perception and color discrimination. Compliance with personal protective equipment, 5S duties, and safety checks is essential.
