The primary focus is the deployment of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) at data center facilities. The role is customer‑facing, requiring teamwork and direct interaction with contractors and end‑users. Responsibilities include software installation, customization, start‑up, commissioning, troubleshooting of power monitoring equipment, device communications, and delivering customer training.
Additional duties involve consulting with customers to determine system operation requirements, installing and upgrading EPMS software, configuring Schneider Electric and third‑party hardware, documenting as‑built systems, and performing system troubleshooting. Travel is predominantly domestic with occasional international assignments, and shift work may be required.
The position is a home‑based Application Engineer role that requires daily travel to customer sites within a defined geographic region, with substantial overnight travel (30‑40% typical, up to 80% at times). All travel expenses are covered and a company credit card is provided. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain any necessary security clearances.
Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related experience, strong knowledge of electrical fundamentals and equipment, ability to troubleshoot network communications, interpret specifications and drawings, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. A valid driver’s license with a good driving record and a stable work history are also required.
Desirable experience covers electrical power monitoring, building automation, systems integration, energy management, understanding of power generation and quality, familiarity with Modbus, IEC 61850, BACnet, computer networking, programming languages (e.g., Visual Basic, C/C++, Java, Python), databases, HTML, HMI configuration, and Schneider Electric software such as Power Monitoring Expert, Power SCADA Expert, and Wonderware.
The first few weeks involve online safety training and on‑the‑job mentorship, with higher travel demands until proficiency is achieved. Job sites may vary or remain constant depending on client needs, which can include commercial, industrial, critical infrastructure, data center, and government facilities.
