Supervise a grounds crew for all daily grounds operations including but not limited to; mowing, raking, tree trimming, plowing, and minor road repairs.
Prioritizes and schedules routine to emergency grounds maintenance.
Utilize the AiM work management system to track project progress, supplies, work hours and costs.
Provides training to staff by demonstrating proper use of equipment and materials to perform specific grounds maintenance tasks to meet quality standards.
Meet with supervisors of the other shops involved in the project to coordinate activities and schedule work to be performed to ensure the effective utilization of staff, materials, equipment and completion of the project on schedule.
Participates in the interviewing process for staff selection, establishes training standards, and trains new staff.
Perform all aspect of grounds maintenance while in a supervisory role. Interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and job specifications to determine labor and material requirements. Order materials, supplies and assign appropriate staff.
Periodically spot checks work to make sure instructions are followed and work is progressing according to schedule.
Supervise and work along with a composite crew of highly skilled and semi-skilled employees providing technical direction in the construction of and maintenance of the State-owned buildings and properties.
