The Pre‑Planning Specialist shapes project success by planning efficient execution methods, emphasizing constructability, prefab strategy, and early BIM integration to improve shop fabrication, field installation, productivity, estimating accuracy, and overall outcomes.
The role involves reviewing large ($6M+) awarded projects for constructability, identifying prefab opportunities, translating BIM models into buildable packages, coordinating with the prefab shop, maintaining a Prefab Catalog, collaborating with procurement, creating SOPs, and supporting enhanced kickoff and field implementation, with occasional travel to Colorado.
- Review awarded projects >$6M for constructability and prefab opportunities.
- Analyze architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to develop efficient installation methods and detailed build plans.
- Identify and define project‑specific prefab deliverables such as racks, kits, assemblies, and skids.
- Perform BIM markups, translate coordinated models into buildable prefab spool packages, and verify constructability before release.
- Serve as primary liaison between project teams and the prefab shop, tracking assembly status and ensuring timely field delivery.
- Build and maintain the internal Prefab Catalog and manage a virtual ordering portal for standard components.
- Collaborate with procurement on grouped material buyouts and kit‑based purchasing strategies.
- Create and maintain SOPs, defining handoffs across estimating, pre‑construction, BIM, prefab, field, and procurement teams.
- Lead lessons‑learned sessions and integrate continuous‑improvement feedback into workflows.
- Present prefab opportunities and build plans at enhanced kickoff and pre‑install meetings to support field teams.
