Assist the senior project transportation engineer in preparing the conceptual, preliminary, and final design and developing construction specifications.
Confirm adherence to construction specifications during each phase of a project. Monitor project progress, inspect construction sites, and verify calculations and placements. "
Assist senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope including cost estimates, budget, staffing and schedules.
Engage in the development of design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats, and prepare and revise documentation including site plans, utility plan/profiles, grading plans, cross sections, diagrams, and submittal reviews as required.
Coordinate technical activities and designs with personnel in other disciplines and departments and serve as a liaison between senior engineers and the design team.
Attend meetings with clients, contractors, review agency personnel, and governing entities.
Prepare engineering feasibility studies by analyzing engineering design, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data.
Perform broad, varied, and diverse engineering design tasks on assigned projects under general supervision of the design lead or project manager, including engineering drawings, engineering reports, presentations, and required applications to regulatory and/or funding agencies.

Thorough knowledge of AREMA, Class I Railroad, and agency design standards
Ability to perform field activities safely
