Description

The role involves overseeing the estimation process for construction projects, from analyzing contract documents to managing bid submissions, coordinating with subcontractors, and ensuring accurate cost forecasts under tight deadlines. The incumbent must assess project risks, develop relationships with suppliers, and support bid teams throughout pre‑bid meetings and review sessions.

• Conduct detailed analysis of contract documents to validate project requirements.
• Identify risks related to project requirements, site conditions, schedule, and market factors.
• Solicit competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Complete quantity, material, and labor takeoffs from project documents.
• Evaluate and compare multiple suppliers for scope completeness, schedule, and compliance.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractor partners and suppliers.
• Engage trades through cold calling and direct outreach.
• Attend pre‑bid meetings and project walk‑throughs.
• Support bid runner with day‑of‑bid assignments.
• Perform multiple estimates concurrently under critical deadlines.
• Participate in estimate reviews with executives, operations staff, owners, and engineers.
• Manage bid document control, organizing and archiving estimate information for project handover.
• Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
• Apply mathematics, statistics, and data analysis to estimating tasks.
• Utilize estimating software effectively.
• Use Bluebeam or similar PDF software for document review.

Requirements

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong analytical abilities, proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel, and the capacity to interpret plans and specifications. They must also exhibit excellent written communication, interpersonal skills, exceptional time‑management, and an aptitude for adopting new technologies.

A bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred, along with three to eight years of commercial construction experience. Our recruiting is managed centrally by HR, and we do not accept unsolicited resumes from unapproved recruiters.
