  • Conducts one emergency response drill annually at any major office where OM&M has major presence/maintain emergency equipment as needed
  • Coordinates implementation of new Site-Specific Health and Safety Plans, and reviews/consolidates existing plans.
  • Investigates and evaluates accidents and near-misses, fully documenting all investigative facts and findings, producing an accident investigation report, recommending the appropriate corrective action(s) and assisting the responsible person(s) in their implementation.
  • Supports, implements, and sustains the SCS safety culture and provides training and assistance related to development and maintenance of applicable behavior-based safety program elements.
  • Addresses SCS health and safety issues in offices and at project sites. Makes recommendations, provides written guidance, and provides related training as appropriate.
  • Provides technical/administrative guidance to all regional personnel related to implementation of the SCS H&S program, including promoting situational awareness and stop work authority. Encourages avoidance of complacency while conducting work.
  • Ensures that employee training on new/modified equipment and/or processes has been developed and delivered to the target population(s); and has been accurately documented, including heavy equipment, ATV/UTV use, excavation & trenching, confined space entry, among others.
  • Conducts in-person New Employee Orientations with field staff, potentially mentoring 1 or more staff for a period up to 6 months from hire date
  • Serves SCS clients on selected projects in providing health and safety professional services, including H&S training and document development, among other things.
  • Assists in performing periodic review, evaluation, and modification of applicable H&S program elements, including reviewing 1-2 SOPs/Programs in the IIPP annually.

  • 7-10 years of relevant solid waste or similar experience required. Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part-time equivalent from other employers.
  • Utilizes comprehensive knowledge of federal and state environmental health and safety (EH&S) regulations to ensure H&S program elements are implemented at the appropriate organizational level.
