In this role you will innovate and lead the SR&ED strategy for a Transportation Systems team covering rail, transit, aviation, ports, marine, coastal and fleet initiatives. You will shape how complex technical advancements are recognized, defended and documented, helping project teams secure essential innovation funding for transformational infrastructure across Canada.
You will own the full SR&ED delivery process for Transportation Systems initiatives, ensuring technical accuracy, compliance and clear claim components. By conducting deep‑dive technical interviews you will uncover eligible R&D activities and guide engineering leaders in articulating challenges and advancements. You will develop high‑quality technical narratives that demonstrate uncertainty, experimentation and innovation, and represent clients confidently during CRA technical reviews. Additionally, you will build and optimise documentation frameworks, identify complementary non‑dilutive funding, and collaborate with the national WSP SR&ED team to harmonise best practices.
We are looking for a candidate with a degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field and at least five years of direct SR&ED delivery experience, including successful CRA support. A deep working knowledge of CRA SR&ED policy, eligibility guidelines and tax legislation is required, together with strong understanding of engineering, software, environmental, digital or AI‑related SR&ED pathways. You must be able to translate advanced technical work into concise, high‑impact narratives, manage senior technical stakeholders and navigate fast‑paced engineering environments using MS Office tools. Highly organised, proactive and collaborative qualities, with the ability to lead, influence and foster strong relationships, are essential.
